Meet Morgen: Our Communications Intern!
Hello!
My name is Morgen Filla, I am currently the Marketing and Communications intern at the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis for the summer. After my internship I will begin my journey toward a Master’s degree in school counseling this fall at Missouri Baptist University. While in graduate school I will also be the assistant coach of the Women’s Lacrosse team at MBU.
So far, throughout my internship, I have learned how much goes into event planning and spreading the word for events within a non-profit organization. As part of the communications field, I spend much of my time posting reminders, updates and information about events and news happening in the DSAGSL community. By posting these things on social media, I am able to learn so much about the different events and how many people and companies are involved to help make each event bigger and better than the last. After contributing to several events including the Birdies and Bass Tournament, New Mother’s Luncheon and Step Up for Down Syndrome, it is easy to see how the DSAGSL impacts thousands of people in such a positive way and how important non-profit organizations are to the community to help bring people together.
The employees at DSAGSL put so much of their time into supporting families and spreading awareness and all the positively around Down syndrome, it has been an inspiration working with them and I am excited to continue to be a part of such an amazing organization for the remainder of the summer!
