Summer is upon us, and with that comes a ton of chances to get out and play golf to support the DSAGSL! Several important tournaments are around the corner, with more on the way later this year. Hope to see you at one or more of them!
Driving for the Upside of Downs
Saturday, June 7
Timber Lakes GC - Staunton, IL
This event is a 4-person scramble that includes,
golf, cart, lunch, dinner and lots of prizes. The
event also features a golf clinic for children and
adults with special needs, starting at 10 am.

Working Wonders 4 Downs

This event includes 18 holes of golf, food, and
many great prizes available through auction and

Rockwood Summit High School
Once again, DSAGSL is hosting a weekly tennis program to any
player age 8 and up. Our playters will learn tennis
fundamentals, and also have the opportunity to participate in
this summer's Special Olympics Missouri competition. All ability

NEW Therapeutic Play Group
First Friday of every month starting June 6
9:30am - 11am at the DSAGSL Office
Join us for this monthly play group for 0-3 year olds.
Parents and caregivers can enjoy coffee and visit while
their babies and toddlers engage in therapeutic play and
fun. **During July, play group is moved to July 11, to
accomodate the Independence Day holiday.

Third Weds of every month (Adults 21 and up), 5 - 7pm
Third Thurs of every month (21 and under), 4 - 6pm
Turner Center for the Arts
Our Comic Book Club has amazingly morphed into a new powerful club of talented artists. In order to help their super powers flourish we have partnered with Turner Center for the Arts to hold our own art club! Encourage your adult or teen to join friends in a safe, creative environment where expression is easy!
NEW Bodies and Boundaries Workshop for Teens/Adults

Due to the popularity of our April Bodies and Boundaries
workshop, the DSAGSL is bringing your teens and adults a
4-week workshop covering body safety, personal hygiene,
boundaries and appropriate behaviors.
Coffee Talk: Down Syndrome & Alzheimer's disease
Tuesday, June 17
6 - 7pm at the DSAGSL Office
Join us at Coffee Talk for some insight on this topic. Learn the
signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and how Down
syndrome and Alzheimer's intersect.
Family Movie Nights
Friday, June 27 and August 15
6:30 - 8:30pm at the DSAGSL Office
We are so exctied for our upcoming family movie nights!
In June, we will be featuring the Lego Movie at 6:30pm
and will have snacks and goodies for all.

This six week course for teens and adults with Down syndrome and
their families will teach healthy food choices, portion sizes,
nutritious recipes and more.
Birdies and Bass Golf Tournament
Monday, July 14
Persimmon Woods Golf Course
Join us for our signature golf event! Teams compete in a
full day of golf preceded by a fishing derby where, thanks
to help from our self-advocates, teams can shave strokes
off their golf score by reeling in a big fish from one of the
lakes on the course. Our event also features an auction, as
well as great food and drinks.
Night at the Magic House
Monday, July 21
6 - 8pm at the Magic House
Join us for a night of family fun, exploration and learning
thanks to our friends at the Magic House! The entire family is
welcome at this private event for DSAGSL families and friends.
DSAGSL Annual Meeting
Wednesday, July 30
6pm at the DSAGSL Office
Our annual meeting is drawing near. This meeting is open
to all members - that means EVERYONE - and will touch on
highlights from the past year as well as a look ahead to our 2014-15 plans. There will also be items up for our membership vote. We hope you will attend and participate. Lego Nature Connects
Saturday, August 9
10am at the Missouri Botanical Gardens
Explore larger-than-life plants and animals made from
Lego bricks in the Missouri Botanical Garden's Climatron.
Come and check out the more than 300,000 lego piece
exhibit with the whole family!
Now Taking Applications for the Education Specialist Program!
Please apply by August 15
Did you know that you can request teacher training in your child's
IEP? Well the DSAGSL is now accepting applications to our
Education Specialist Partnership Program is a joint effort
bewtween Greater St. Louis area schools, agencies, parents and
the DSAGSL. The goal of the partnership is to proved support for
educators, parents and professionals seeking to build a meaningful eduation for students with Down syndrome. This FREE four-part workshop begins in September and provides 20 hours of meaningful training as well as continuing education units. Please apply by August 15 and encourage your child's teacher and staff to do so as well! Find more info here.
