What is #GivingTuesday?
On Tuesday, November 27, 2012 the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis will join organizations across the country to celebrate the first #GivingTuesday, a movement to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. #GivingTuesday will create a national moment amount the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping.
How is the DSAGSL celebrating #GivingTuesday?
Not only is the DSAGSL celebrating #GivingTuesday by joining the other organizations in the movement, we also want to help celebrate giving thanks for the individuals with Down syndrome that you know and love. Visit our Facebook page and post your favorite photo and story about your loved one on our Give Thanks. photoboard. On #GivingTuesday, we will share some of our favorites with our fans. Post as often as you’d like and feel free to share with family and friends.
How to participate in #GivingTuesday
Since #GivingTuesday is all about remembering to give back during the holiday season, you can decide how you want to participate – give thanks, give your time or give through donations. Even spreading the word about our organization and what it means to you is considered giving back.
The DSAGSL’s mission is to benefit the lives of people with Down syndrome and their families through individual and family support, public education, advocacy and awareness – and the support we receive from our community makes that mission a reality. If you want to support the DSAGSL as part of your holiday giving, visit our page atwww.firstgiving.com/dsagsl/givingtuesday. Any donation can make a difference for the families we serve and if you give on November 27 every penny will go to our organization – no fees will be taken off your contribution. If you are interested in giving your time to help support the DSAGSL, please contact our office at 314.961.2504. We are always open to new volunteers for events, programs and office needs.
Thank you for your support this holiday season!
